Predicting the therapeutic response to cognitive behavioral therapy in patients with pharmacoresistant obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I chose the theme of obsessive-compulsive disorder as a topic of my thesis. The main reason was that it is a disorder I have worked as a therapist in individual or group therapy frequently. Also I have participated in several studies as evaluator in Psychiatric Centre, and I collected data from dozens of patients. In the first part the thesis deals with the symptoms, clinical picture, prevalence, aetiology and treatment of OCD. Thesis is focuses on behavioural and cognitive models of the disorder in detail, because the treatment used in the present group of patients was CBT. Various models of cognitive behavioural therapy I discuss in more detail, because they allow different views of what happens to the patient and how to change it. The practical part has two parts. The first deals with the effectiveness of group cognitive behavioral approach for OCD patients, who use antidepressants but were resistant to previous treatment and were attended a daycare center at the Prague Psychiatric Center. The second part of the thesis deals with finding a predictor of successful cognitive behavioral therapy in these patients. Comparison of tinnitus treatment by selected therapeutic approaches.

Jiří Klíma Title: Comparison of tinnitus treatment with selected therapeutic approaches Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effectiveness of selected therapeutic approaches in the treatment of subjective chronic tinnitus. These approaches are manual therapy, low-power laser therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. Another aim is to determine which of these approaches is the most effective. Last but not least aim is to summarize the current knowledge about tinnitus. Methods: The thesis is processed in the form of literature review. First, the current theoretical background is described, then the objectives of the thesis and research questions are set. Then the methodology is described and the results are presented and discussed. Last but not least, the limitations of this thesis and the studies are described. Results: In total, 13 studies were found that met the criteria. Based on these studies, it appears that both manual therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy lead to a significant reduction in tinnitus severity in some patients with subjective chronic tinnitus. Social relation problems of patients with anorexia nervosa

Purpose of this work was to describe situation in social interaction of people with anorexia nervosa. I dealt with personal diaries of a patient who had anorexia nervosa and deeply examined one of the diaries. Personal thoughts desribed in diaries were analysed and resulted in picture of social interaction of the person. I also inteviewed father and mother who desribed retrospectively friends of the girl and relations between family members. Comparing these three sources I came up with answer on the basic research question: How patiens with anorexia nervosa make social relations. By doing this the objective of the work was accomplished. Results were summed up in 8 points. Each point clearly describes relation problem of the patient. Findings were compared to literature. The end of the work is devoted to the problem of eating disorders generally. Patient is a copybook example of anorexia nervosa. Her social interaction is complicated or even does not exist at all. Family relations are disturbed, the girl is looking for contacts outside family but these are unstable and short term only. Better results would be accomplished if sample of objects was bigger than only one patient. Following qualitative research there could be quantitative research which would show how interaction is problematic for patients with anorexia nervosa. Based on the results of my work larger interest should be dedicated to ties of patients with outside population.
